Things have been very busy the last couple of weeks! I want to take this time to wish everyone a happy holiday season, whatever holiday you celebrate! This is the time of year for reflection and hope. Reflecting on the year that is about to end and paying attention, not only to what we want to change, but what we have learned and are grateful for in this past year.
It’s also time to put out our hopes for the year to come. What do we truly desire? Do we have a plan to accomplish those desires? Many people use this time of year for resolutions, but I like to set annual goals that are specific and achievable. Resolutions tend to be grandiose and people almost expect to break them within 2-4 weeks of January 1. My question is, what’s the point if you aren’t really planning to do it in the first place? I like to set 2-3 goals that I believe are achievable. Then I list a few steps to move toward those goals and go from there. This is just to get me started, I add to the list or adjust the list as the year goes on. Then, at the end of the year, I sit down and review what I accomplished (or didn’t) and simply move into the next year. It’s about acknowledging what you’ve done, not a competition with anyone, including yourself. Sometimes I give up a goal because I have changed my mind about it and that’s okay!
I wish you all a very happy holiday season and the best 2018 possible! I’m going to take a little time off and get some fresh inspiration. See you in 2018!
