I challenge myself several times a week to accomplish a little more than I did the day before. I always try to improve how well I do my job because I want to give my clients the best I have to give and if I can keep improving it’s good for all of us!
What if everyone tried doing a little better each day than they did the day before? Do a better job at work or be a better spouse or parent. Be a better friend or boss. Just be better in some area of your life. If you made the effort, even a couple times a week to be better at something, what do you think you could accomplish?
It’s taking some small, but consistent, efforts over time that can make a big difference in our lives. No matter who we are, we can all do a little better if we make the effort and if we are consistent. I used to think that there are some people who are good at everything and it comes easy for them. I have learned that we all have some talent in some area, but talent still needs to be grown into a skill and lots of people started out young developing a talent and eventually made it look easy. Remember, it didn’t start out that way!
We don’t start out fully developed. We can’t even walk or talk when we start out. But over time and consistent effort, we learn to do it almost effortlessly because we have practiced and practiced. It’s this way with a job/career. When we first start out, we are learning. We may have some innate skills in that area, but after we do it for awhile, we get better and better and other people think we make it look easy.
So challenge yourself in some area of your life to be better than you are now. Your job, your family (being a spouse or parent or child), a sport, whatever! You choose and see if a little effort on a consistent basis doesn’t make a world of difference!
