I’m borrowing some inspiration from Shakespeare here. Anytime anyone puts anything out in the open, whether in a conversation, a book or a blog/website, we invite agreement and disagreement. Well, there’s actually a 3rd group, the one’s who don’t really care much one way or the other, but that’s another topic.
Whenever I read what others have to say, I naturally form an opinion. I expect people to do the same when they read my entries into the universe. There was a time in my life when I would be upset and withdraw at the first sign of negativity. I know a great deal of other people who do the same. We keep our ideas or our feelings or our beliefs inside because we are afraid of the criticism or negativity that may come our way because of our words/thoughts/ideas/beliefs. And that’s truly a shame!
Over the years, I have learned that people don’t have to agree with me!! They don’t have to like what I put out there!! They don’t have to try anything I suggest!! And that’s perfectly okay. In order to agree or disagree, one must give something some thought or consideration. If what I say gets people to think, whether they like it and agree with it or don’t like it and disagree with it, that’s fine with me. I still got them to think!
I realize that some people will like what I say and will offer some praise from time and that’s nice! I appreciate the positive comments and encouragement. Thank you to those who have given me that kindness. And thank you to the people who disagree with me but took the time to read and give thought to what was said.
We will all be agreed with and disagreed with in our lives. I’m trying to say that it’s important to put stuff out there to keep the mix of ideas flowing and not get too wrapped up in the whole being agreed or disagreed with thing. If you have something to say or an idea to share: DO IT! Don’t be afraid, be willing to put it out there. Keep the flow of diverse opinions and ideas alive and well.
