Unspoken Agreements

Last month I focused on an experiment to better understand myself.  I will be honest, it was a challenge to watch my language because, despite the fact I always try to do that, I found myself still saying things that weren’t designed to move me forward.  I did fall into some griping, whining and complaining, but I caught myself and did it a lot less.  I am better at neutralizing negatives and noticing positives.  And by setting intentions, I find that I am more motivated to get things done. (and this is a great advancement!)  For me, this past month’s activities were beneficial.  I have a policy, I never ask other people (clients, family, friends) to do anything I haven’t or wouldn’t do myself.  If you tried the exercises (any or all), how did you do?  What did you discover?

This month I am going to explore a book that I really enjoy and has also helped me look at myself and how I can be a better person.  The book is The Four Agreements by Don Miquel Ruiz.  I read the book the first time several years ago, but I really wasn’t ready for it.  I read it again in the past year and I found it to be very thought provoking and it encouraged me to pay more attention and be more fully present.
